A Twinkie is an American snack cake. It is known to be a mini sponge cake with cream filling on the inside. Americans are aware of this snack, but have you heard of the Deep Fried Twinkie?

Yes, what you read is right. This time, Twinkies are presented in a different manner.
This time, Twinkies are dipped into a prepared batter, and deep frying it in order to show that Twinkies can be enjoyed in a different way.

You may find it unusual and unimaginable, but it really does exist.

In a restaurant in Los Angeles called Beer Belly, Deep Fried Twinkies are served. The Twinkies are served with a strawberry puree and a chocolate chip ice cream.

Deep Fried Twinkies are served hot, brown and crispy. The cream inside the traditional twinkie oozes out as soon as you dig your fork in.

Ice cream is a sweet treat for the young and old. It is the simplest dessert anyone could possibly have after their meal, but have you heard of a Salted Caramel Ice Cream?

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams offers a wide selection of flavors from their collection. They have Vanilla Orchid, Wild berry and lavender and Pistachio and Honey and so much more! A Pint of each flavor costs $12.

What caught my attention was the Salty Caramel Ice Cream. This is indeed something new, our sweet favorite caramel flavor, salty? I couldn't imagine that, but I heard that Jeni's has turned it the other way around. It turned out to be one of their best ice cream flavors because of its unique taste. It's sweet and salty combined into one! I guess, sweet and sour doesn't really apply here. :)

It's too bad that I can't be in the United States to try one of their flavors. I envy those who can try this unique ice cream. I read that their ice creams are really good.  :(

Russian Chocolate Salami with Recipe

Salamis are known to us as sausages which are made out of air dried meat, but in Russia, they have a dessert called the Chocolate Salami. Some may find it weird because of the name of the dessert, but before you judge it, try it.

The name of the dessert is simply mouthwatering! Chocolate Salami! Who would dare to resist such sweet treat? Chocolate Salamis are best served with coffee or tea at anytime of the day.

Russian Chocolate Salamis are shaped into logs like the usual meat salamis, but it's very rich and purer in chocolate. Well, what do you know? This Chocolate Salami is very simple to do!

Allow me to share the recipe from cookeatshare.com:
Ingredients:

  • 1 package of plain vanilla cookies (2 hand fulls)
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 3 Tbs Cocoa (good quality cocoa is really important)
  • 7 Tbs melted Butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup of sugar

Directions

  1. Take the cookies and break them into small pieces.
  2. Cut walnuts or pecans into small pieces.
  3. In a small, non-stick pot add cocoa and sugar and mix together. Add egg and melted butter. Simmer the mixture on low heat for 3-4 minutes, add the crushed cookies and nuts, mix well. The mixture should be thick.
  4. Take parchment paper, and cut into a rectangle, just enough for the mixture to fit. Take a piece of butter and rub the top of the parchment paper (this prevents the mixture from sticking to the paper).
  5. Add the mixture from the pot on to the parchment paper and roll it in the form of a sausage. Twist the ends so that it holds its shape.
  6. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours before serving. Once ready to serve, slice it like salami and enjoy!

This Chocolate Salami is also great for home made presents for your family and friends. Enjoy and indulge!

Turon Split in the Philippines

Mang Inasal is known to be a place for grilled chicken lovers in the Philippines, and having a dessert in their menu nowadays is really better than before for it's not only all about chicken and unlimited rice.

Mang Inasal already serves desserts at a cheap price, like the Filipino favorite Halo-Halo for P49.00, but what caught my attention was their new Turon Split which is only sold for P39.00. Very affordable right?

Filipinos are used to Turon which is a dessert made out of banana concealed in a lumpia wrapper, but what's the catch?
At a cheap price, you do not only get 2 pieces of turon which is so good even though it is just served in small sticks. Though small, it is stuffed with lots of banana. Not only that, you also get 3 flavors of Filipino flavored ice cream in it such as chocolate, cheese, and ube drizzled with chocolate syrup.

It's the Filipino version of the famous Banana Split served around the world!

If you want to try this dessert, the Turon Split is available in all Mang Inasal Branches in the Philippines.
